Rev. Dr. Jeremy D. Scott has been president of the ERSCC board since the beginning of 2024. After over 20 years in pastoral ministry, Jeremy now serves as the Assistant District Superintendent for Church Mission & Engagement for the New England District Church of the Nazarene. Jeremy’s ministry has had a particular focus on responsibility and justice carried out through efforts of compassionate ministry. This has included leading local churches in establishing various efforts - a community food pantry in Kansas City, teaching in jails and prisons in Kansas and Massachusetts, homelessness advocacy, and establishing The Anchor of Hull, a recovery community center in Hull, MA. He is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, Nazarene Theological Seminary, Boston University, and earned his doctorate at Duke University.
He is married to Meghan. They have seven children, ranging from a toddler to a college student, and also serve as a foster home. They live in Hanover, Massachusetts.
Most of all, Jeremy is passionate about the justice of God as demonstrated in the person and character Jesus Christ and discovering & working for that which is good and right for those who are disadvantaged or otherwise down and out.
Jon Scott graduated from Olivet Nazarene University and soon after joined the Peace Corps as a volunteer in Brazil. He learned Portuguese and worked among coastal fishermen to start cooperatives. Then Jon served over 30 years as a Global missionary with the Church of the Nazarene, focusing on supporting neighbors in need. His mission work took him to post-revolution Portugal and Romania, where he partnered with non-profits to deliver care, food, educational opportunities, and hope to those recovering from oppressive regimes. In Romania, Jon was director of Nazarene Compassionate Ministry and helped establish the Romanian Studies Program of Eastern Nazarene College. In Mozambique, Jon facilitated ministerial training in urban and remote areas, and in Malawi, as Principal of Nazarene Theological College, he reached out to refugees in a large UNHCR camp near the campus.
Upon returning to the U.S., Jon served on the Washington Pacific District Church of the Nazarene as a pastor and co-founded of Kaleidoscope, a multicultural learning center. He headed the focus of Emergency Preparedness in Nazarene Compassionate Alliance Northwest, a 501c3.
In 2019, Jon and Margaret moved to Massachusetts, where he continues his ministry work as a volunteer for Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore and for the New England District Missions Council.
I’Esha Thomas serves as a high school counselor at Needham Public Schools and a board member of Boston Asian: Youth Essential Services and Esther R. Sanger Center of Compassion. She is an active member of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, serving on the Fellowship and Mission & Evangelism Committee, New England District’s Christian Social Action Committee, and NED’s Nazarene Discipleship International board. I’Esha previously served as NED Youth Camp Director, NED Youth Council, President’s Racial Justice Task Force at Eastern Nazarene College, ENC Alumni Council, and Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore, Inc. board. She is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, and earned her Master’s in Education from Cambridge College.
She is happily married to Rev. Matthew Thomas, lead pastor of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene. They have three boys and a dog.
I’Esha is dedicated to finding ways to engage and compassionately serve others in the community. She strives to lead with grace, love, and mercy to help people in need.
Russ is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, Nazarene Theological Seminary, and Boston University. He has served as a full-time pastor for 43 years and currently holds a part-time role as Pastor for Congregational Care at Wollaston Church of the Nazarene.
Throughout his ministry, Russ has led church planting efforts, established mission partnerships in Honduras, Cuba, and inner-city Baltimore, spearheaded capital campaigns, and mentored young people pursuing a call to ministry. He also served on the Eastern Nazarene College Alumni Council and Board of Trustees for two decades, including four years as Chair of the Board.
Russ describes his leadership strengths as strategic thinking and planning, building partnerships, fostering collaborative teams, and resourcing mission opportunities.
He and his wife, Debbie, have three daughters—Heather Ingram, Andrea Sawtelle, and Kristen Penney—along with three sons-in-law and six grandchildren.
Following graduation from Eastern Nazarene College and Nazarene Theological Seminary, Dennis served in several northeast communities, coordinating food and clothing distribution, ESL classes, occupational training, and developing worker-owned business cooperatives for urban economic stability. He has participated in various refugee resettlement efforts, primarily among people from Cambodia, Vietnam, and Haiti. He led a ministerial training program in five states, which offered brick and mortar classes in five languages.
He has served on the board and as an advocate for Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore. Currently he is a recovery coach at the Anchor of Hull, a faith based community substance use recovery center in Hull, Massachusetts.
Recently retired after fifty-three years in pastoral ministry, Dennis has been privileged to lead in the start of forty compassionate ministry centers and new churches.
Dennis is married to Dr. Linda Nease Scott, and they together enjoy their eleven grandchildren and one great grandson. They live in Hanover, Massachusetts.
Paul brings over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, program development, and sustainable mission-building. In his role, Paul guides our efforts in partnership-building, asset acquisition, strategic planning, and the development of processes for the support of organizations dedicated to advancing a culture of compassion. With his depth of expertise and shared commitment to this mission, we look forward to expanding our impact and capacity to serve.
Paul was the Founding Director of the Trinity Education for Excellence Program (TEEP) at Trinity Church in Boston, a transformative leadership and college readiness initiative for Boston youth. Under his guidance, 100% of TEEP graduates went on to attend four-year colleges. Paul has also served as Director of the Corporate Work Study Program at Cristo Rey Boston High School, establishing partnerships with 90 corporate entities to provide students with scholarships through work placements. Additionally, Paul led a multi-million dollar facility master plan for a camp and retreat center, building a mission-driven team to achieve an innovative project. He has also served as Head of School at Fusion Academy in Hingham.
Danae has over 20 years of experience in public accounting, specializing in audit, review, accounting, and advisory services. A certified public accountant in Massachusetts and Indiana, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. Danae primarily serves owner-managed businesses across various industries, including industrial and consumer products, professional services, and real estate. Her expertise extends to private equity group portfolio companies, entities with domestic and international operations, and employee benefit plans.
Danae is also a passionate advocate for family support and inclusive culture. She has held leadership roles in her firm’s family first employee network group at the local, regional, and national levels. Danae enjoys collaborating with leaders from other network groups to plan panels and events to support her working caregiver colleagues and serve local families.
Danae is honored to leverage her experience to support the financial reporting processes of the Sanger Center, committed to fostering a culture of compassion.
